Position Description

As a Contracts Compliance Associate at XPRIZE, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the organization adheres to its contractual commitments and regulatory requirements. Your responsibilities will include meticulously reviewing, auditing, and ensuring that all contractual agreements between XPRIZE and third parties comply with applicable regulations and XPRIZE policies. You will conduct thorough contract reviews, monitor compliance activities, and implement processes to mitigate risks associated with non-compliance. Your attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and understanding of regulatory frameworks will be essential in maintaining a compliant and ethically driven business environment, contributing to the successful execution of contracts.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Contract Creation, Review, and Analysis:
    • Review a variety of contracts including sponsorship agreements, MSAs, NDAs, and others to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal requirements.
    • Translate existing contracts into standardized templates.
    • Analyze contract terms and conditions, identifying potential risks and non-compliance issues.
    • Collaborate with XPRIZE's Advancement and Prize Domain teams to address contractual ambiguities or concerns.
    • Work collaboratively with other departments, including Advancement, Finance, and the Prize Domains, to fulfill contractual terms.
  • Compliance Monitoring:
    • Develop and implement systems to monitor contractual compliance along with compliance with relevant laws and regulations throughout the organization.
    • Conduct regular audits and assessments to evaluate compliance with contract terms.
    • Ensure that Prize Domain teams, Finance and Advancement are delivering on all contractual commitments through the life of the contract term.
    • Identify areas of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions to relevant stakeholders.
  • Risk Mitigation:
    • Identify non-compliance issues, develop corrective action plans, and implement solutions.
    • Collaborate with XPRIZE's internal teams and stakeholders to implement risk mitigation strategies and deliver on committed mitigation plan actions.
    • Provide guidance and support in developing compliant processes and procedures.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain a repository of documentation, conduct audits, and provide reporting on contract performance and compliance.
    • Prepare reports (internal and external) and summaries highlighting compliance status, issues, and recommended actions.
    • Assist in the preparation of compliance-related documentation for audits and regulatory inspections.
    • Identify non-compliance issues, develop corrective action plans, and implement solutions.
    • Support the Business Affairs Department with other duties as required.
  • Communication and Training:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to guide compliance-related matters.
    • Conduct training sessions to educate employees on contract compliance and related policies.
    • Collaborating with internal teams to support contract-related inquiries and issues.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 4 years of prior experience in contracts compliance with an understanding of the contract lifecycle process
  • Strong understanding of legal and contractual principles
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements
  • Excellent analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • A proactive problem-solver who can identify gaps or inefficiencies within existing processes and take the initiative to develop effective solutions
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders at various levels
  • Proficient in using contract management systems and tools such as JIRA and Concord
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

The anticipated base salary for this position is $90,000 to $105,000 and may also qualify for an annual incentive. This role is eligible for our extensive benefits package and generous paid time off, including vacation, sick, and holidays. The actual hourly salary offered will depend on various factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant, years of relevant experience for the role, level of education attained, and certifications and/or other licenses held. XPRIZE is a remote-first environment.
