POSITION DESCRIPTION

We're looking for an experienced VP, Brand and Campaign Strategy to develop go to market strategies and manage supporting campaigns for prizes and programs within the foundation. This person will work closely with their team, other marketing leaders, and cross functional partners to plan, develop, activate and manage marketing campaigns designed to drive awareness and engagement with key audiences. This position will be an integral member of the  Marketing and Communications leadership team, working with key stakeholders and senior executives across the foundation. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop Go-To-Market Plays: Use your expertise in customer journeys to develop go-to-market strategies for how new prizes/programs are launched, moving audiences from awareness to engagement to action. 

Develop Campaign Strategies: Partner with marketing leaders and marketing managers to develop cross-channel campaigns (including communications, creative, content, digital, and experiential) that achieve organizational and business objectives. Guide marketing managers and stakeholders in defining campaign objectives, target audiences and associated calls to action across major prize/program milestones.

Coaching and Mentoring: Build, develop, and manage a team of marketing managers, guiding them in the development and management of strategic marketing plans and supporting campaigns. Ensure that the team's efforts are aligned with overarching program and organizational goals. Identify internal and external opportunities to advance team members’ professional development. 

Stakeholder Management: Partner with marketing managers and stakeholders (including prize directors and domain leads) to translate prize/program goals into campaign objectives. Work with leaders in the Marketing and Advancement teams to ensure that planned campaigns strike a balance between sponsor needs and prize objectives. Manage competing priorities of internal and external stakeholders to ensure that marketing campaigns focus on the best possible result for the organization.

Measure Performance: Define success metrics and report on the performance of marketing campaigns in partnership with the CMO and other marketing leaders. Establish benchmarks for campaign performance to improve effectiveness and ROI over time.

Drive Innovation: Foster a ‘test and learn’ culture within Marketing by encouraging the adoption of emerging technologies (including AI) and the development of creative marketing solutions to business problems. 

Engage Sponsors and Donors: Partner with the advancement team to translate engagement and fundraising goals and strategic priorities into marketing campaigns that increase awareness of XPRIZE programs and their impact to current and prospective sponsors and donors. Develop campaigns that drive the conversion of prize sketches and designs into fully funded, active prizes.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 15+ years of integrated marketing and communications experience including 5 years in a leadership role with experience managing teams.
  • Experience building and leading high performance teams, including managing and coaching staff as well as consultants.
  • Extensive experience in developing and executing go-to-market strategies and supporting marketing campaigns, ideally within a commercial or agency setting. Experience with non-profit fundraising is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of customer journeys and how to apply them in the creation of go-to-market strategies.
  • Understanding of how digital marketing, interactive experiences, content, community management, marketing, and communications come together in an integrated fashion to drive business results.
  • Experience leveraging data to make informed business decisions, as well as developing marketing metrics and business insights.
  • Strong experience in creating plans, presentations, and other materials to effectively communicate marketing strategies and results to diverse audiences - ability to translate technical/scientific information into compelling user stories is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and navigate ambiguity to drive projects forward; strong project management and organization skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence without authority, manage competing priorities, handle objections, and work collaboratively with colleagues and staff.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $170,000 to $200,000 and may also qualify for an annual incentive. This role is eligible for our extensive benefits package and generous paid time off including vacation, sick, and holidays. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors including the qualifications of the individual applicant, years of relevant experience for the role, level of education attained, and certifications and/or other licenses held. XPRIZE is a remote-first environment.
