Position Description

XPRIZE Foundation is seeking an experienced executive to co-lead the Community group within the Advancement team. This team is primarily responsible for fundraising for XPRIZE as a foundation for high net worth individuals and foundations to both cultivate and grow XPRIZE’s existing benefactor community including its Vision Circle, Innovation Board as well as our other circles of donors.

Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, the candidate should have extensive experience with fundraising from and interacting with high net worth individuals and foundations at nonprofit organizations and have a proven track record in setting and meeting fundraising goals. XPRIZE is seeking a hands-on candidate who can actively contribute in identifying and onboarding new donors at a caliber consistent with those currently in XPRIZE’s benefactor community.

Specific responsibilities of this leader and the team include:

  • Develop and implement strategies for growing and cultivating the donor base
  • Translate and execute XPRIZE’s strategic plan to team members in order to drive accountability and performance 
  • Expand the geographic footprint of XPRIZE’s benefactor community both domestically and internationally
  • Identify and create new opportunities to engage donors with XPRIZE’s existing events and programs
  • Build new and highly engaging fundraising events in conjunction with the XPRIZE events team
  • Individually engage and sign on new donors.
  • Manage XPRIZE donor boards & communities
  • Develop strategies and programs to measure and increase donor engagement and activation
  • Create and cultivate a productive, balanced and rewarding working environment for members of the Community team.
  • Work in partnership with the Strategic Philanthropy team to further support XPRIZE fundraising goals
  • Develop and manage to accurate forecasts for both team revenue and costs
 

Qualifications 

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience, including executive level roles in fundraising from individual donors
  • Experience managing a fundraising target of up to $10M
  • Track record of setting and achieving annual fundraising targets
  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s/MBA preferred.May substitute significant experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience with non-profit organizations is required. 
  • Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with high net worth individuals is required; foundations preferred
  • Relevant experience in XPRIZE’s domains is preferred
  • Strong business sense and the ability to set and manage to budget and forecasts.
  • Experience and track record in managing and developing a team, ideally in a non-profit environment.
  • History of working with boards and C-suite executives
  • Strong business writing and professional verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive and think creatively and calmly in highly fluid situations and under intense schedules and deadlines.
  • Experience in creating and managing fundraising events
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills

The anticipated base salary for this position is $180,000 to $200,000 and may also qualify for an annual incentive. This role is eligible for our extensive benefits package and generous paid time off including vacation, sick, and holidays. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors including the qualifications of the individual applicant, years of relevant experience for the role, level of education attained, and certifications and/or other licenses held. XPRIZE is a remote-first environment.
