Position Overview:

The Director of Advancement for the XPRIZE Foundation is a new and exciting opportunity for a seasoned fundraiser to be an integral part of building and implementing a robust fundraising strategy to expand the organization’s mission and impact, particularly in the area of Foundation and Donor Advised Fund (DAF) cultivation and growth. The successful candidate will be a versatile and data-driven fundraiser, proven in achieving growth goals, launching new revenue streams and building mutually beneficial relationships with a variety of stakeholders. This position will report directly to the Sr. Director, Advancement and serve as an active member of the larger Advancement team. 


Responsibilities:

  • Works with organizational and departmental leadership to develop and implement a strategy for Foundations. This includes, but is not limited to, an engagement strategy for Foundation fundraising through both foundation specific and broader general market initiatives. 
  • Researches and applies to Foundation grants and completes grant reports.
  • Co-authors and executes the fundraising strategy via Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) to XPRIZE’s mission by engaging a variety of decision makers including donors, institutions and advisors. 
  • Works closely with the Chief Advancement Officer, Vice President of Development, XPRIZE Executive Leadership, Donor Giving Circles, and Board of Directors and Trustees, deploying them as necessary to actively network for fundraising opportunities.
  • Actively and strategically evaluates other potential fundraising opportunities to identify areas of growth.
  • Innovates new opportunities for donor engagement and programming.
  • Assists in the implementation of event fundraising opportunities and a variety of donor-focused events and giving campaigns with the Advancement team.
  • Develops and deepens relationships with Foundation and DAF community stakeholders. 
  • Serves as an external advocate and community builder for XPRIZE at appropriate events and meetings.

 
Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of successful, progressive experience in fundraising.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving fundraising goals and strategically advancing new initiatives. 
  • Broad and deep knowledge of fundraising principles, including experience in grant writing and knowledge of DAFs.
  • Experience and comfort in fundraising through partner organizations.
  • Expertise in cultivation and solicitation for all levels of giving, ideally with experience securing commitments of $100,000+.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, research, and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational and strategic planning skills.
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as well travel (approximately 25%) as needed.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in technology-focused organizations.
  • Success in using crowdfunding and other non-traditional fundraising techniques.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce CRM.
  • Experience working at a Foundation, within the DAF ecosystem, or with an existing strong network within these communities.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $120,000 to $140,000 and may also qualify for an annual incentive. This role is eligible for our extensive benefits package and generous paid time off including vacation, sick, and holidays.  The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors including the qualifications of the individual applicant, years of relevant experience for the role, level of education attained, and certifications and/or other licenses held.  XPRIZE is a remote-first environment.
