Position Description

XPRIZE is seeking an experienced Team Relations Manager who will play an integral role in the successful execution of the XPRIZE Wildfire, an $11 million global competition to spur innovation to end destructive wildfire. Reporting to the Program Director for the XPRIZE Wildfire, this position will provide project management and administrative support to the XPRIZE Wildfire Operations team, as well as serve as the primary point of contact for competing teams. This position is responsible for providing accurate information, based on the competition guidelines and rules and regulations to competing teams and the larger prize communication. This position serves as the lead on external communications with competing prize teams and the larger prize community, participates in the recruitment of competitive teams, provides ongoing management and support of the teams via various communications tools, creates content for prize newsletter, and prepares and executes webinars in service to the competing teams. This position will also track and maintain data on teams and provide team status reports, as well as liaise with IT on implementation and customization of the Prize Operations Platform (POP) for team recruitment and for continued team engagement. The position is full-time and projected to last a minimum of 18 months with the possibility of a 6-12 month extension.

 

Team Relations Responsibilities:

  • Lead team and ecosystem relations and management, including outreach and communication strategy
  • Support content creation of prize newsletter, blogs, and online presentations 
  • In coordination with the Prize Operations team, address complex technical topics and questions submitted by teams that are related to the XPRIZE Wildfire competition
  • Maintain internal intelligence on team activities, track milestones, and advise colleagues on media opportunities
  • Organize internal meetings as well as identify and participate in industry events to drive participation in the prize
  • Manage Team Slack channel and other social tools to enhance communication between competitors and XPRIZE 
  • Provide support with general project, technical, and event management including Team Summits, Judge Summits, Conferences, etc.  
  • Manage teams and logistics at events including testing and conferences, etc.
  • Assist in identifying risks at each phase of the competition and work with the operations team to develop mitigation plans
  • Support the judging process and the execution of awards
  • Conduct outreach to schools and various educational institutions
  • Manage the prize filing system within Google-drive
  • Assist with Google-slides presentations
 

Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of relevant professional experience managing external communities, project management, competitions, and related projects
  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent relevant experience
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, as well as attention to detail
  • Experience managing and customizing technology platforms
  • Direct experience and knowledge in the domains of space-based and/or autonomous technology is a plus
  • Curious, motivated, and interested to learn more about the rapidly expanding world of wildfire technology
  • Ability to lead or co-lead senior-level meetings, webinars, workshops, etc.
  • Experience building and working with partner organizations, and external communities
  • Excellent business and technical writing and professional verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and situational awareness
  • Willingness to travel globally, often for weeks at a time, to testing and industry events as needed
  • Ability to thrive and think creatively and calmly in highly fluid situations and under intense schedules and deadlines

The anticipated base salary for this position is $80k to $90k and may also qualify for an annual incentive. This role is eligible for our extensive benefits package and generous paid time off including vacation, sick, and holidays. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors including the qualifications of the individual applicant, years of relevant experience for the role, level of education attained, and certifications and/or other licenses held. XPRIZE is a remote-first environment.
