Position Description
The Vice President, Partnerships & Impact’s responsibilities consist of managing and leading XPRIZE’s engagement with the various ecosystems of companies, foundations and other organizations who support our work and our teams both during competitions and beyond. Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, the appropriate candidate will lead the day-to-day activities of the Partnerships & Impact team - setting plans and strategies for building and activating existing and new networks of partners, implementing the operations and execution of those plans and personally engaging strategic partners on behalf of the foundation.
This person will also lead XPRIZE’s Impact work, measuring and quantifying the impact the foundation has on the world and the challenges we address through the competition programs and via those teams that compete on prizes.
Lastly, the Vice President of Partnerships and Impact will manage the XPRIZE Alumni program which consists of a selection of former prize competitors. In this capacity, the appropriate candidate will develop new means of engaging our alumni, supporting them in their mission and monitoring their progress in the domain.
The Vice President will work directly with senior leaders, team members, and colleagues across departments and functions to further the Partnership and Impact team’s work and processes. The Vice President needs to be comfortable performing many different tasks that vary widely and range from highly administrative to strategic in nature and with limited supervision.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage the Partnerships and Impact team, ensuring the success of the associated programs and completion of key milestones and KPIs; and assigning and delegating tasks appropriately based on others’ skills and goals
- Develop and execute strategies for increasing partner ecosystems as well as engaging and activating partners in support of XPRIZE work
- Refine and manage XPRIZE impact programs and reporting across all of its prizes and domains
- Develop processes for efficiently engaging and supporting internal programs with partnerships and impact frameworks
- Manage the engagement with XPRIZE Alumni - identifying new ways to drive increased communication and awareness as well as ways that XPRIZE ecosystems can support the work of the Alumni
- Appropriately scope projects and processes and delegate work to ensure it is on time, on budget, and meeting quality standards
- Support engagements with donors and sponsors in articulating XPRIZE’s impact, alumni activities and ecosystem activities
- Identify and execute on opportunities to defer foundation costs through the use of in-kind support of partners
- Personally drive the relationships with select strategic partners
- Work with Advancement to identify opportunities where the Partnerships and Impact team’s programs and ecosystems can support fundraising. Efficiently allocate and exhibit effective use of XPRIZE resources
- Identify opportunities to gain efficiency
- Lead calls and meetings with internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain a detailed understanding of project goals and clearly communicate progress and recommendations for improvement to the project team
- Liaise with Finance, Stakeholder Relations, Prize Operations, Marketing, IT and Communications teams to ensure alignment and to execute delivery of final products
Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
- Experience with building and maintaining partner programs / ecosystems preferred
- Comfortable and experience with senior level (CxO) external engagements
- Existing relationships with institutions / organizations relevant to XPRIZE work is a plus
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with evolving needs and priorities that change quickly
- Experience with effectively and efficiently managing people towards goals and objectives
- Strategic thinker and planner, with a strong track record as a senior leader in complex and fast paced organizations
- Experience implementing impact frameworks is preferred
- Critical thinker with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrates excellent judgment and has a data and metrics mindset for decision making
- Highly organized with the ability to multi-task with strong project management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
